Healthful Life a Sex-full Life
Want to stay virile into your middle-age? Forget sex, drugs and rock and roll. In fact, you might want to forgo all that sort of thing full stop.
Turns out, clean living just may be the key after all.
Clean Living Improves Sex
Some sexual health researchers have said that erectile dysfunction is almost inevitable, if a man lives long enough. Indeed, Associate Professor David Smith of Cancer Council NSW has said around 61% of men 45 and over experience some degree of erectile dysfunction; this number increasing to 80% with men aged 75 and over.
New research from The Medical Journal of Australia suggests that men who remain fit and healthy have a much lower risk however.
Healthy Men = Virile Men
According to the research, being obese doubles the risk of erectile dysfunction, and smokers can look forward to an 86% increase of their risk too. Combine the two, and it’s not a pretty picture!
Getting regular, moderate exercise was also associated with a significant decrease in the risk of erectile dysfunction.
So, if you want to stay virile late in life, no excuses! Eat well, quite smoking, and keep moving!
The research was conducted on 101,674 New South Wales men, aged 45 and over, with no previous diagnoses of prostate cancer.
Of those surveyed, only 39% reported healthy, normal erectile function. 25% reported mild erectile dysfunction, 19% moderate, and 17% complete or total erectile dysfunction.
