We probably don’t need to be told that long periods of inactivity are bad for you. A sedentary lifestyle is associated with a variety of increased health risks. Not to mention a few quite attractive benefits to regular exercise.

But can the length of time you spend sitting each day alone have the same risks? Even independent of the amount of exercise you do otherwise?
