During the “Sex Revolution” of the 60s, reading a book during sex – something the Varsity “hottie” proudly declared she regularly did when “doing” Big Blue – seemed the height of blue stocking brazenness…

Fast forward 50 years and what once seemed deliciously dangerous has apparently  become mundane. A study shows more than ten per cent of “Millennial Mums” are blasé about using their cell phones during sex.

The Meredith Parents Network survey of mothers aged 18 to 35, showed there was no part of the technology obsessed women’s lives that was “media free.”

Texting or Facebooking?

But While 12 per cent acknowledged using their phone during sex, the women were coy about specifying exactly how they used their phones. Questions on whether they answered calls, replied to a text, checked Facebook or took pictures are left unanswered.

The survey also revealed that 21 per cent of mothers use their phones while on the toilet.

Carey Witmer, president of Meredith Parents Network, explained: ‘Today’s moms are media omnivores. They are constantly creating new rules about how and when media intermingles with their busy lives.’

Is Cell Phone Use During Sex OK?

The findings support another survey by a cell phone company which showed 15 per cent of American interrupted sex to answer a call.

You wonder if a latter day Emily Post will publish an etiquette book on “Cell Phones and Sex – When it’s OK and When it’s Not.”

I have never answered the phone during sex, and I would be deeply disappointed if my husband did. There is a land line next to the bed (ringer is turned off) but cell phones are not kept in the bedroom. If you are thinking about your phone during sex, there is definitely a problem somewhere.
