After weeks of hype, Johnny Depp has at last revealed his new look. Claiming to be tired of being seen as an unapproachable celebrity heartthrob, he has spent the last few months working intensively with industry makeover experts, perfecting this new ‘common man’ image.

Mixed Reactions

Some media and industry pundits however seem bemused by the new look.

“It’s a bold move, I’ll give him that,” says veteran paparazzo Chase Allens. Although happy to confirm a spike in the current price for snaps of the A-lister, Allens declined to speculate on future rates.

Johnny Depp’s publicist says he is unfazed.

“Come on guys, let’s face it—Johnny Depp is… Johnny Depp. Look, he’s done diverse looks before, and has remained one of the most gorgeous, sexy men working in film today. Without a doubt. Is he still bankable? Absolutely I’d say he’s still totally bankable.  I mean sure, no one can say exactly whether or not this new look won’t have a slight influence, here and there. But no. Johnny’s still got. I mean come on, look at him. Just look at him! I’m almost lost for words.”

Depp’s partner, French actress Vanessa Paradis (pictured just left of frame), could not be reached for comment.
