A French hamburger chain is defending its controversial decision to produce and sell so-called ‘Jedi Burgers’.

A leading French fast-food chain, Choisis’s latest publicity stunt has been timed with the re-release of the first of the star wars prequel, in remastered 3D.

Experts say have the potential risk of turning some consumers into Jedi, imbuing them with either light or dark side force-powers.

Local critics of the move have condemned the chain, calling their decision to allow unlimited customers access to the potent burgers irresponsible, even amoral.

Defending Individual Choice

Choisis has been quick to defend its decision however. They claim the exact amount of burgers necessary to turn a consumer into a full-fledged Jedi or Sith Knight is not known, and consumers are ultimately responsible for regulating their own dietary habits.

“We are not nannies,” says CEO Jean Fournier. “Nor are we responsible for the choices of our customers… if they choose to eat too many Dark Side Burgers, if they become a full-fledged Sith Lord, well then that’s their choice. It is nothing to do with us. We are not forcing people to eat.”
