In an anticipated move, the US Congress has moved to protect cafeteria pizza’s legal status as a vegetable.

Two Tablespoons = A Tomato

According to American legislators, the tomato sauce on a slice of school cafeteria pizza can qualify as a legitimate serving of vegetables, provided it amounts to at least two tablespoons worth.

Congress moved quickly to quash a proposed amendment to this law, which would have seen the minimum quantity required to gain vegetable status increased to a half-cup.

Good Nutritional Outcomes Key Motivating Factor

“Our decision was based on concern for student’s basic nutritional needs,” spokesperson Wally Eitet has said. “The simple fact is, pizza contains several vital nutrients. I can say fairly and objectively that this is a great way to improve nutritional outcomes in schools across our nation.”

Mr Eitet has denied any influence of the big three Frozen-FoodCos in this decision.

“Surely any unbiased, objective commenter can see… this [decision] is based on nothing more than common sense, pure and simple.”
